- A convenient system for Active Compression Therapy to help reduce the risk for Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) formation in hospitalised patients with reduced mobility.
VenousThromboembolism (VTE)* is the most common cause of preventable mortality in the acute care environment1. Around two thirds of symptomatic VTE can be avoided by provision of adequate prophylaxis.2
ArjoHuntleigh today announces the launch of Flowtron ACS900 Active Compression System which delivers both uniform and sequential compression therapy from a single pump.
Both uniform and sequential compression therapy have shown to reduce the risk of DVT when used as part of a prescribed care pathway.
The unique single tube design of Flowtron ACS900 with Automatic Garment Recognition, detects which garment is connected to the pump and adjusts the compression cycle accordingly without any additional user intervention. The new integrated tube set and cable management system reduces tubing and power cord management issues in the clinical environment.
Flowtron garments are non-thermal in nature with moisture management properties, a key factor contributing to patient comfort. A combination of garments can be used at the same time, i.e. foot and calf, providing convenience and choice for both patient and caregiver.
“At ArjoHuntleigh we would like to raise awareness of VTE and how it can be prevented. Using an Active Compression Therapy system for hospitalised patients can help reduce the risk of VTE, currently one of the most common causes of preventable mortality”, says Harald Stock, President & CEO.
