Aegis Reports Robust Performance In 2005 And Projects Increased Marketplace Expansion In 2006

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Aegis, the nation’s leading healthcare business development company, announced today continued robust growth in the year just concluded and optimistic projections for significant marketplace expansion in 2006.

As the industry’s pioneer in employer directed marketing, Aegis brings to hospitals a road-tested program that effectively links the hospital’s services with the specific health-related needs of local employers and their workforce. Through this effort, employee health is improved, employer healthcare costs are reduced and hospitals are able to drive favorable market share into their facility while better serving their community.

In the year just ended, Aegis reported adding 22 new hospitals to its client roster, including those affiliated with such well-known systems as Catholic Health Initiatives, Catholic Healthcare West, Adventist Health System, HCA, Sisters of Mercy, Emory Health System and Triad in addition to several community hospitals. With that growth, the Aegis program is now in 62 markets and 36 states, and employer penetration increased 36 percent over 2004 from approximately 4,500 to 6,100 nationally.

“All around the country hospitals are witnessing significant return on investment by moving their marketing dollars away from traditional mass media and focusing instead on building critical relationships with their local employer community,” said Aegis Chief Executive Officer Robert Chamberlain. “The simple truth is that employer directed marketing works, and in 2006 we expect to see more and more facilities turning to this strategy as a way to enhance bottom-line profitability while driving drive top-line growth.”

As a result of new market expansion coupled with outstanding renewal rates in excess of 80 percent, Aegis reported a 16 percent increase in revenue in 2005 over 2004, according to Chamberlain. Also during the year, Aegis was named one of Nashville’s “Best Places to Work,” and Chamberlain was included in the Nashville Business Journal’s “100 Most Influential Healthcare CEOs.” The company was previously inducted into the Nashville Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame.

According to Chamberlain, employer-directed marketing will continue to be an attractive model in 2006 and beyond for both employers and hospitals. “With employer healthcare costs rising 69 percent over the past five years, business owners are receptive to a program that has proven to save them meaningful dollars in employee health costs, absenteeism, healthcare premiums, workers’ compensation and other healthcare-related expenditures,” he said. “At the same time, hospitals welcome the opportunity to speak directly with an insured population and tailor their programs and services to the specific healthcare needs of a given worksite.”

Aegis’ national client base includes more than 70 for-profit, not-for-profit and academic medical centers. Since its founding in 1989, no other company has been able to match the company’s breadth of services, track record and bottom-line proven performance when it comes to employer-directed marketing.
