Elsevier, Inc. Launches New Journal: Learning, Culture and Social Interaction
OXFORD, England, June 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
An interdisciplinary journal devoted to the publication of international research on learning within, and through, social practices
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and solutions, is pleased to announce the launch of a new international, quarterly journal, Learning, Culture and Social Interaction. The journal is affiliated with the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI) and the International Society for Cultural and Activity Research (ISCAR) and is now available online.
Learning, Culture and Social Interaction is devoted to the publication of high-quality research on learning within, and through, social practices. Its particular focus is on understanding how learning and development are embedded in social and cultural activities, and how individuals and collective practices are transformed through learning. Such understanding requires a careful analysis of learning in social context, and of the communicative processes involved. Included in the journal are in-depth studies of interaction in schools (in various subjects and settings), universities, work-places, voluntary organizations, public agencies, hospitals, laboratories and other institutional settings, as well as studies of informal settings such as everyday conversations, play settings, youth clubs, games and other cultural practices. The journal will also publish longitudinal studies of learning trajectories and analyses of contexts and interactional patterns that hinder learning.
Executive Publisher at Elsevier, Ann Corney, said of the journal's launch, "We are delighted to be working with an excellent and experienced team of editors. Learning, Culture and Social Interaction's editorial vision is to create an international and interdisciplinary forum dedicated to understanding how learning and development are embedded in social and cultural activities."
