Microlife And The American Heart Association Form Sponsorship Agreement

TAMPA, Fla., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Microlife USA and the American Heart Association have announced a sponsorship agreement on a free, personalized online program that will educate consumers on the importance of heart health and the control of high blood pressure.

Under the agreement, Microlife will be a national sponsor of the American Heart Association's High Blood Pressure Patient and Professional Heart Profilers(TM), an online educational tool for patients, loved ones and caregivers and a clinical reference tool for professionals. Microlife will notate American Heart Association sponsorship on its blood pressure monitoring marketing materials. Microlife joins the American Heart Association and NexCura, Inc., the developer of the Heart Profilers tools, with a goal to generate awareness among healthcare professionals and the general public on high blood pressure and its associated risks. The program goals include facilitating dialogue between the patient and the physician and increasing participation in the Heart Profilers(TM) program (americanheart.org/heartprofilers).

"Microlife is honored by the opportunity to work with the American Heart Association," said James R. Mault, M.D., a heart surgeon and the chief medical officer of Microlife USA. "The Heart Profilers program allows people to be proactive with their heart health and take charge of it in a meaningful way."

"This sponsorship allows us to expand our reach directly to the point of retail sale and provide the most current, most actionable information available on heart-health," said Clyde Yancy, M.D., professor of medicine/cardiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, and an American Heart Association volunteer.

Microlife will co-market the American Heart Association's Heart Profilers programs and use its relationships with key pharmacy retailers to inform customers about this reliable source of health information. The company also will help educate customers about the importance of monitoring their blood pressure at home with a validated blood pressure monitor to ensure accuracy. Microlife's blood pressure monitors received an "A" validation grade for accuracy of systolic pressure and an "A" grade for diastolic pressure measurement against the most stringent criteria by independent researchers. The validation is based on British Hypertension Society protocol, the world's authority on home blood pressure monitoring.

About the High Blood Pressure Heart Profiler for the Medical Professional

The program provides a listing the types of studies, citations of relevant studies summarizing the inclusion/exclusion criteria and research findings. In addition, Heart Profilers give the professional the ability to see how a healthcare professional's patients compare to study populations in order to evaluate risk of potential outcomes associated with different treatment options.
