Drug Panels "Have Financial Links"
Doctors around the world are being advised to prescribe specific drugs by experts with close financial links to the pharmaceutical industry, it has been claimed. An investigation by the scientific journal Nature found "extensive" financial connections between clinical guideline panels and drug companies. Around 70% of panels were affected. In one case, every panel member had received payments from the company making the drug that was ultimately recommended. The findings suggest drug companies are distorting decisions about how their drugs are prescribed, say public health experts.
