Cranberry Extracts Show Promise Against Gullet Cancer

An increased intake of fruit and vegetables may cut the risk of Barrett's oesophagus, a precursor to oesophageal cancer, suggests a new study form California. A proanthocyanidins-rich cranberry extract was found to inhibit the growth and spread of human oesophageal adenocarcinoma (a cancer in glandular tissue) cells, report the researchers from Ohio State University and the Blueberry and Cranberry Research Center at Rutgers University.
