Amgen’s First Quarter 2006 Adjusted Earnings Per Share, Excluding Stock Option Expense, Increased 26 Percent To 91 Cents

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 18, 2006--Amgen (NASDAQ:AMGN - News) reported adjusted earnings per share (EPS), excluding stock option expense, of 91 cents for the first quarter of 2006, an increase of 26 percent compared to 72 cents during the first quarter of 2005. Adjusted net income, excluding stock option expense, increased 19 percent to $1.1 billion compared to $924 million in the first quarter of 2005. Stock option expense on a per share basis totaled 4 cents in the first quarter of 2006 compared to 6 cents in the first quarter of 2005. Adjusted EPS including stock option expense were 87 cents for the first quarter of 2006, an increase of 32 percent compared to 66 cents in the first quarter of 2005.
