SARATOGA, Calif., March 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- VisionCare Ophthalmic Technologies, Inc., a developer of advanced visual prosthetic devices for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, today announced two promotions within its management team. Chet Kumar has been appointed Vice President, Sales & Market Development; Mr. Kumar most recently was the Company’s Vice President, Market & Business Development.
Mr. Kumar has more than fifteen years of successful experience in ophthalmic businesses including leadership positions in the fields of market development, business development and marketing. Prior to joining VisionCare, Mr. Kumar served in marketing positions with Oculex Pharmaceuticals, a company that was acquired by Allergan.

Mr. Kumar holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Southern California and a BA in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego.
VisionCare also announces the promotion of Reena Mishra to Senior Director of Marketing. Ms. Mishra joined VisionCare in 2011 and has rapidly taken on broadened responsibilities for marketing and related areas since joining the Company. Ms. Mishra, with this promotion, is responsible for global marketing, practice development, and case management.
Ms. Mishra brings more than eleven years of line marketing experience to her position in medical device technology companies in both high growth and development stages. Her experience includes marketing positions with Pivot Medical, Spinal Modulation and ArthroCare Corporation.

Ms. Mishra holds a MBA from Santa Clara University, a MA in Kinesiology from San Jose State University, and a BA in Kinesiology from Occidental College.
