UC San Francisco nabbed $517 million in NIH funding last year, trailing only Johns Hopkins nationally, and topped the ranks of public universities. The UCSF School of Medicine finished No. 1 in that category, with $439.6 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health, topping Johns Hopkins University's medical school tally of $404.9 million.
