Thermo Fisher Scientific Releases Automation-Ready Kit for DNA/RNA Recovery from Viral Particles and Gram-Negative Bacteria

The MagMAX Viral/Pathogen Nucleic Acid Isolation Kit is a new automation-ready kit for scalable recovery of RNA and DNA from viral particles and gram-negative bacteria.

The MagMAX Viral/Pathogen Nucleic Acid Isolation Kit is a new automation-ready kit for scalable recovery of RNA and DNA from viral particles and gram-negative bacteria. The kit works with a variety of sample types including blood, swabs, urine and viral transport media (VTM). UsingMagMAX magnetic-bead technology to ensure reproducible recovery of high-quality nucleic acid compatible, the kit is compatible with a broad range of applications. These include real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR), digital PCR and next-generation sequencing.

“We are committed to expanding the value of our MagMAX reagents to clinical samples for infectious disease detection,” said Bob Setterquist, leader of research and development for sample preparation at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “The latest addition to our portfolio of MagMAX isolation kits offers researchers and labs a scalable, automated solution that ensures high DNA/RNA recovery without the need for carrier RNA. The Viral/Pathogen kit is designed to work on KingFisher instruments, which will enable labs to spend less time prepping their samples and more time focusing on downstream analysis.”
