The Regional Medical Center Of Orangeburg And Calhoun Counties Selects Aegis To Help Target Marketing Efforts To Local Employers

ORANGEBURG, S.C., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties (TRMC) has selected Nashville-based Aegis to be its partner in developing and implementing a series of local programs aimed at improving employee health and reducing employer healthcare costs.

The new community-outreach effort centers on TRMC identifying the health risks of a specific workforce and then matching at-risk employees with appropriate early detection, prevention and education initiatives. These initiatives will be directly related to specific diseases -- such as heart, cancer and diabetes -- and will leverage many of the existing programs of the 286-bed hospital along with the services provided by its medical staff.

As part of their two-year agreement, Aegis will provide TRMC with Personal Health Surveys, Personal Health Reports, employer-based Health Information Centers and other road-tested tools designed to support a business owner's individual healthcare needs. TRMC will also have access to Aegis' proprietary software and Internet applications, which will allow for the efficient ongoing execution of this program.

"Central to our mission has always been a commitment to take a proactive approach towards keeping our community healthy," said Brenda Williams, TRMC's vice president of business development. "That is what healthcare is all about, and by working with Aegis we will be able to have a direct impact on both the health and the healthcare costs in our community."

Aegis is the nation's leading healthcare business development company whose programs can currently be found in more than 7,000 employer sites across the country. Employers in other markets who have participated in the Aegis program have recognized significant dollar savings in employee health costs, absenteeism, healthcare premiums, workers' compensation and other healthcare-related expenditures. Hospitals have benefited as well by cementing their bond with the local employer community while assuring that their marketing and programmatic efforts best mirror local community needs.

Originating from a small, private hospital founded in 1919, TRMC has grown into a 286-bed, acute-care, regional medical center serving a six-county area. Owned by Orangeburg and Calhoun counties, the medical center has a multitude of specialties and programs that offer the latest advancements in medical care. TRMC, accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, provides 24-hour emergency department services and offers a full range of high-quality medical services.

Aegis' national client base includes more than 70 for-profit, not-for-profit and academic medical centers that have turned to Aegis to enhance bottom-line profitability by driving top-line growth. Since pioneering the concept of employer-directed marketing in 1989, no other company has been able to match Aegis' breadth of services, track record and bottom-line proven performance when it comes to employer-directed marketing.
