CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The American Journal of Managed Care®, the leading peer-reviewed journal dedicated to issues in managed care, is pleased to announce that Rose Gerber, director of patient advocacy and education for the Community Oncology Alliance (COA), will be the moderator for the “Advancing Care Management” panel at the 2018 Patient-Centered Oncology Care® (PCOC) meeting. The event will take place Friday, Nov. 16 at the Sofitel Philadelphia Hotel.
“We are pleased to offer this unique live event to healthcare professionals each year,” said Gil Hernandez, director of sales of Managed Markets. “Learning from these experts in the field can have a significant impact on patient care across the country.”
Experts leaders on the Advancing Care Management panel include:
- Lani Alison, RN, vice president of clinical affairs, Regional Cancer Care Associates
- Don Champlain, RN, MHA, director of care management, Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute
- Beth Wittmer, RN, OCN, manager of care management, Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute
- Wes Hall, cancer survivor
Gerber brings a unique perspective not only as a survivor but in her professional role where she interacts with cancer patients and survivors across the U.S., from newly diagnosed patients to long-term cancer survivors. Gerber developed COA’s national advocacy program—CPAN (Community Oncology Alliance Patient Advocacy Network)—and CPAN advocacy chapters across the U.S. CPAN chapters are based in community cancer clinics, where the majority of cancer patients are treated. Throughout her career, Gerber has appeared on MSNBC-TV to speak about cancer care access issues; met with legislators in Washington, D.C., to discuss cancer policy issues; and developed cancer programs. She has also been the featured cancer survivor in media campaigns of various cancer organizations and the keynote speaker at multiple national cancer conferences. Breast Cancer Wellness magazine recognized her as the National Breast Cancer Leader of the year in 2018. Gerber was a mother with young children when she received a diagnosis of breast cancer and continues to inspire others through her cancer advocacy work.
“I am honored to moderate this panel of leaders that are experts in their field,” said Gerber.“Their work and dedication to value-based cancer care has a positive impact on so many patients and survivors.
PCOC is a one-day educational and highly interactive event that addresses topics such as advancing value-based payment models, impact of consolidation and integration on oncology care, and pharmacy role in patient care and management. The program’s format will allow attending healthcare and managed care professionals to share their experiences and actively participate in panel discussions.

The mission of COA is to ensure that cancer patients receive quality, affordable, and accessible cancer care in their own communities.
