Swedish Registry: Guideline Implementation Has Lowered Mortality in AMI Patients

STOCKHOLM, Sweden—Improvements in care for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) over a 12-year period in Sweden have led to dramatically better outcomes, more than halving 30-day mortality and extending long-term survival by approximately 2 years. Findings from the RIKS-HIA registry were announced in a late-breaking trial session at the European Society of Cardiology Congress on Monday, August 30, 2010.
