Some PD Dyskinesia Linked to Serotonin, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine Reveals

June 30, 2010 -- MedPage Today -- Fetal tissue transplants for Parkinson’s disease initially seemed promising, but after a period of improvement, most patients began experiencing involuntary movements. Now British and Swedish researchers think they’ve worked out the paradoxical cause of that so-called “graft-induced dyskinesia” and in the process identified ways to prevent and treat it, according to Marios Politis, MD, of Imperial College London, and colleagues.
