Paychecks leveled off last year for top executives at San Diego County’s publicly traded companies, as base salaries were flat on average and a soft stock market chilled equity payouts.
But there were still a few very large paydays for local chief executives — especially as they left or prepared to change their roles in their companies.
San Diego’s CEO pay trends mirror the direction of executive compensation nationally, according to the Union-Tribune’s analysis of pay packages for about 100 local firms whose shares traded above $1 last year.
