BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 5, 2006--PerkinElmer, Inc. (NYSE: PKI), a global leader in Health Sciences and Photonics, today announced the acquisition of Avalon Instruments Limited, based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The acquisition expands and complements PerkinElmer’s Molecular Spectroscopy product portfolio through adding a family of innovative bench-top dispersive Raman spectrometers. The Avalon Raman platforms support both bulk analysis and microscopic imaging, enabling scientists and technicians to gain more information about their samples with excellent reproducibility. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
