MedWire News: A US study suggests that obesity improves the long-term outcomes of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) compared with non-obese patients. These findings therefore suggest an "obesity paradox" in AF, say Sony Jacob (Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan) and colleagues, given that previous studies have reported a link between obesity and an increased risk for AF.
