Victorian patients have received a new magnetic hearing implant as part an international trial. The bone conduction implant has a lower risk of infection, is easier for patients to care for and is far more discreet. The Royal Eye and Ear Hospital’s clinical director of Ear Nose and Throat Services Associate Professor Robert Briggs said eight Victorian patients had received the new implant as part of a trial involving four countries.
