1. What’s your hometown and do you get back there often?

My hometown is in a Washington, D.C. suburb called Potomac, Maryland. I visit family and friends there about once a year.

2. What was the last book you read and would you recommend it?

The last book I read was “Steve Jobs” by Walter Isaacson and I would definitely recommend it. I would recommend it both to learn from some of the amazing insights about Steve Jobs and Apple as well as how to steer clear of some of the negative experiences.

3. Do you have a pet? What’s its name?

I do not have any pets.

4. Favorite food for each season?

My favorite food for each season includes –

•Spring: Grilled chicken
•Summer: Grilled salmon
•Fall: Grilled steak
•Winter: Lasagna

I really enjoy grilling, so it’s a theme for me!

5. All-time favorite movie?

My all-time favorite movie is “Field of Dreams.” It reminds me of throwing a baseball with my dad. I would love to have my father come back to throw a baseball with him.

6. Hobbies?

My hobbies include sports, art and wine. I enjoy watching and playing almost any sport and collecting sports memorabilia, visiting art museums, collecting interesting art, and tasting and learning about different wines from all over the world.

7. What’s your favorite part of the day?

My favorite time of the day is when I first walk in to work in the morning. It’s then that I look forward to the many amazing possibilities of what could happen that day.

8. Do you have a personal hero?

My older brother, who was six years older than me, is my personal hero. He inspired me to pursue a career in science. He also was the glue of my family and his influence taught me how to bring people together which has helped me to build and run a company.

9. Best advice for a young person coming into biotech or healthcare today?

To decide what you are passionate about, become an expert in that area, identify a truly unmet need in that space and work with laser focus to address or solve that need.
