Identifying Retroperitoneal Hematoma Risk May Help Guide Treatment

TCTMD -- Retroperitoneal hematoma after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is uncommon but can have serious consequences, including increased risk of in-hospitality mortality, according to a study in the August 2010 issue of JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions. Identification of several risk factors could help modify treatment to reduce occurrence of the complication, the authors say.
