SALT LAKE CITY,/PRNewswire/ -- Health Catalyst, Inc., a leader in next-generation data, analytics, and decision support, announced four new members of its leadership team, adding decades of experience in driving positive transformation at some of the nation’s largest health systems, and building on Health Catalyst’s strengths in healthcare outcomes improvement. The new hires are: William Caldwell, MD, MBA, former senior vice president of clinical integration at Novant Health; Cathy R Menkiena, MBA, BSN, RN-BC, former senior director of EHR Solutions at Encore Health Resources, an emids company; Ryan Smith, MBA, former chief information officer (CIO) at Banner Health; and Steven Vance, MBA, FHFMA, former regional chief financial officer and compliance officer at Intermountain Healthcare. “We are excited to welcome Will, Cathy, Ryan and Steve, each of whom brings unique and highly valuable skills and experience to Health Catalyst that will help our clients improve their clinical, financial and operational outcomes,” said Tom Burton, president of professional services and co-founder of Health Catalyst. “Their broad and deep experience in enterprise-wide healthcare information systems and process improvement within some of the country’s most successful health systems will be vital to helping our clients realize their clinical outcome and financial goals.” Ryan Smith brings nearly 25 years of health information technology and leadership experience from two of the largest non-profit integrated healthcare delivery networks in the country: Intermountain Healthcare and Banner Health. As CIO at Banner Health—a 28-hospital health system that provides services in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nebraska, Nevada and Wyoming—Smith led the development and implementation of key technologies and strategies that positioned Banner as an industry leader in healthcare innovation. As senior vice president of client engagement at Health Catalyst, Smith will work directly with client CIOs across the country to help them design strategies to consolidate point-solution analytics, increase the efficiency of information delivery, and accelerate improvement by leveraging the Health Catalyst Analytics Platform and library of advanced analytic tools. Dr. Will Caldwell has received over 26 awards for clinical excellence during his 17-year career as a clinician. He led the development of the Clinically Integrated Network at Novant Health, a leading healthcare provider with 15 hospitals and more than 350 physician practices across North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. As medical director and chairman of the CIN from its inception in 2016, Dr. Caldwell grew the value-based platform to 2,800 physicians, transitioned the first payer product with 72,000 attributed lives, and built its business capabilities including IT connectivity, referrals and scheduling, internal and external communications, provider education, and legal compliance. As senior vice president of physician and market development at Health Catalyst, Dr. Caldwell will advise clients on the tools and capabilities needed to transition from traditional fee-for-service reimbursement to value-based care, including how to set up physician networks, create value-based clinical pathways and protocols, overlay technology to drive success in those pathways, and aggregate data to report on outcomes. Cathy Menkiena brings over 30 years of combined experience in information systems, healthcare operations, administration, nursing management, analytics and consulting spanning Cerner, Epic, Eclipsys (now Allscripts), Healthlink, IBM Global Business Services and a number of healthcare providers including Tenet Healthcare and BayCare Health System in Tampa, FL. At Encore, Menkiena led a team of over 200 application consultants and was a member of the executive leadership team with responsibility for full lifecycle IT implementations, solution development, market positioning and differentiation. As senior vice president of professional services for Health Catalyst, Menkiena will work directly with clients, exercising her passion for using data to transform healthcare. Steven Vance spent eight of his nearly 25 years at Utah’s Intermountain Healthcare as director of strategic planning in the southwest region, working with and implementing the principles of Dr. Brent James and Dr. David Burton, the process improvement team credited with turning Intermountain into a national leader in high-quality low-cost care. That experience influenced his most recent role as CFO of Intermountain’s southwest region, which includes three hospitals and generates over $1 billion in annual gross revenue.
