Technology developed out of Harvard's Wyss Institute that collects and stores vital signs at the patient's bedside may soon be available in hospitals, with a new startup licensing and commercializing the technology.
The technology initially was developed for a narrow use, with engineers from the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University looking for ways to monitor and prevent infant sleep apnea. Because sleep apnea is characterized by periods of no breathing, the condition can be life-threatening and can cause developmental delays.
