Business Wire -- Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods today reported to the Connecticut State Division of Special Revenue that the property took in $62.2 million in slot machine gaming revenue, the best month of the fiscal year to date. This amount represents a decrease of 14.2 percent in slot win and decrease of 9.6 percent in total slot handle compared to May of 2008, a month that featured the grand opening of the MGM Grand at Foxwoods and all of the accompanying advertising and media exposure. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, the casino’s owner, also reported a $15.6 million payment to the State of Connecticut for May of 2009. This contribution increases the total dollar amount given to the State of Connecticut to more than $2.8 billion since January of 1993, when slot machines were first introduced at Foxwoods.
