MORRIS PLAINS – The future of the 63-acre former Pfizer property on Route 53 remains in limbo — with a court case and environmental issues making it unclear what, if anything, will become of the massive former corporate campus.
Mayor Frank Druetzler said the site’s fate remains uncertain for the foreseeable future, as a builder’s remedy lawsuit filed against the borough by the property’s owner, M&M Realty Partners, in January 2013 has yet to be resolved.
Pfizer left the property — a former Warner-Lambert site it inherited in its 2000 merger — in 2011. After M&M acquired the site on Route 53 in August 2012, it presented a conceptual plan to municipal officials, proposing a mixed-used development of 500 apartments, condominiums and townhouses, along with 1,000 square feet of retail space, as NJ.com reported at the time.
