Elekta selects Cancer Registry of the Year
During its annual Registry Users Meeting, Elekta also paid tribute to the 2013 Registry of the Year, which honors outstanding registrars and departments who have made valuable contributions to the success of the registry program. It also recognizes those who make a difference to the community and broader organizations in the fight against cancer. Morgantown, West Virginia‘s WVU Healthcare Cancer Registry team was recognized as Registry of the Year.
The WVU registrars have worked together closely for several years, achieving recognition as experts in the field of cancer registry by ACOS Commission on Cancer, WVUH Cancer Program, WVCRA state association of Cancer Registrars, and WVCR state cancer registry. Subjects of expertise include abstraction, standard compliance, technology, research and international research. Of note, the WVU registry staff has also spread its influence on an international level, working with Kenyan registrars on registry functions and the complications of abstraction of cases in Nairobi, through the influence of HIV and other disease processes.
“Elekta has an unwavering commitment to the full spectrum of oncology systems, including registry systems,” says Todd Powell, Executive Vice President, Elekta Software. “We are eager to help our registry customers leverage the data they have in METRIQ® to make better clinical and business decisions. Most importantly, we are proud to recognize the cancer registry team at WVU Healthcare. Their commitment to their patients and their community is noteworthy, and we applaud the work they do.”
