Dyadic International Announces Research and Development Collaboration to Produce An Active Ingredient in C1

The deal will explore the potential of its C1 technology to produce an important active moiety with an integrated, global biotech company.

JUPITER, Fla., Feb. 07, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dyadic International, Inc. (“Dyadic”) (OTCQX:DYAI), a global biotechnology company focused on further improving and applying its proprietary C1 gene expression platform to speed up the development and production of biologic products at commercial scales, today announced that it has entered into a funded proof of concept research collaboration to explore the potential of its C1 technology to produce an important active moiety with an integrated, global biotech company.

“This research & development program will utilize C1’s advanced genetic and metabolic engineering tools as well as its novel characteristics to develop a more rapid and environmentally friendly, lower cost biologic process for the desired primary metabolite which aims to offer an alternative to the current commercial chemical manufacturing process being used by our collaborator. This program offers a terrific opportunity to begin to demonstrate the potential benefits of using our C1 technology to develop and manufacture an additional class of compounds,” said Mark Emalfarb, Dyadic’s CEO.

“In this research collaboration, we will be using state of the art metabolic modeling, synthetic biology and genome engineering techniques to demonstrate the benefits of using C1 as a primary metabolite-producing host organism for producing an active compound,” said Ronen Tchelet, Ph.D., Dyadic’s VP of Research. “Additionally, the knowledge and data generated in this program will enhance our understanding of C1’s metabolic characteristics and help us with more rapidly advancing our ongoing C1 biologic vaccine and drug research and development programs.”

About Dyadic International, Inc.

Dyadic International, Inc. is a global biotechnology company which is developing what it believes will be a potentially significant biopharmaceutical gene expression platform based on the fungus Myceliophthora thermophila, nicknamed C1. The C1 microorganism, which enables the development and large scale manufacture of low cost proteins, has the potential to be further developed into a safe and efficient expression system that may help speed up the development, lower production costs and improve the performance of biologic vaccines and drugs at flexible commercial scales. Dyadic is using the C1 technology and other technologies to conduct research, development and commercial activities for the development and manufacturing of human and animal vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, biosimilars and/or biobetters, and other therapeutic proteins. Dyadic pursues research and development collaborations, licensing arrangements and other commercial opportunities with its partners and collaborators to leverage the value and benefits of using these technologies in the development and manufacture of biopharmaceuticals. In particular, as the aging population grows in developed and undeveloped countries, Dyadic believes the C1 technology may help bring biologic drugs to market faster, in greater volumes, at lower cost, and with new properties to drug developers and manufacturers and, hopefully, improve access and cost to patients and the healthcare system, but most importantly save lives.
