CEYLINCO HOUSE: Country’s First Skyline for Sale

Daily Mirror -- Sri Lanka’s first ever skyline and one of most enduring landmarks in the country, Ceylinco House at 69, Janadhipathi Mawatha, Colombo 01, has been put up for immediate sale by the troubled Ceylinco Group as it struggles to raise cash to pay depositors of the collapsed Golden Key Credit Card Company Ltd. It is sited on prime property overlooking the seafront in the heart of Colombo's financial district and high security zone. Further, advertisements have been carried in Sunday newspapers to sell Hotel Ceysands of Bentota, one of the primary subsidiaries of Ceylinco that was built when the company started to diversify in late 70’s. The original concept of Ceylinco House to be the tallest landmark during 1960s in Sri Lanka was an idea of Justin Kotelawala, the Chairman of Ceylon Insurance Company at that time.
