The density of a woman’s breasts is nearly as important as her age in determining whether she develops breast cancer, a finding that could encourage some women to get more frequent mammograms or other tests for the disease.Women whose breasts have a high proportion of milk-producing tissue are at nearly four times greater risk of developing cancer than those whose breasts are made up mainly of fat, according to studies in today’s Journal of the National Cancer Institute that make “breast density” an official predictor of the disease along with age, family history and other factors.>>> Discuss This Story
