Washington Osteopathic Medical Association Joins Growing Coalition In Fight Against I-895

SEATTLE, June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The Washington State chapter of the Osteopathic Medical Association (WOMA) is the most recent group to sign on in the fight against Initiative 895, which would allow insurance companies to offer "bare-bones" medical policies. Just last week, the Citizens Against I- 895 Campaign Coalition announced the addition of high-profile groups including the Washington State Chapter of the American Cancer Society and the Washington Podiatric Medical Association. This latest endorsement brings their number of supporters to well over 600,000.

I-895 would allow insurance companies to offer stripped down health care policies that would not require coverage of conditions ranging from diabetes to preventative breast cancer screening and it would not require companies to offer medical coverage to adopted children. In addition, it would erode state regulations that protect patients' rights to choose their own provider.

The following organizations and professions have joined Citizens Against I-895: The Washington Osteopathic Medical Association, the Washington State Chapter of the American Cancer Society, the Washington Podiatric Medical Association, the American Diabetes Association, the Service Employees International Union, the Washington State Labor Council, the Washington Public Employees Union, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of Washington, the Washington State Association of Alcoholism and Addictions Programs, Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, Acupuncturists, Registered Nurses, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners, Optometrists, Podiatrists, Osteopathic Physicians, Clinical Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors, Naturopathic Physicians, and Psychologists.
