BALTIMORE, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Carolyn Darrow, MPH, director of continuing medical education (CME) for Quintiles Medical Communications, has been elected to the Board of Directors for the North American Association of Medical Education and Communication Companies (NAAMECC). Darrow joined three other new members for a three-year term on the board following induction ceremonies held at the NAAMECC Annual Meeting earlier this week.
Darrow, who chairs Quintiles’ CME Compliance Committee and provides oversight and educational design guidance for client programs, brings more than 25 years of experience in the academic medical and MECC sectors and a history of volunteer leadership to the NAAMECC Board. Darrow was honored by NAAMECC earlier this year with an Outstanding Service Award for her work as Educational Program Committee chair (2003-2004) and service on the Bylaws Committee (2001-2004). She is also active in the Alliance for CME, currently serving on the Finance Committee.
“Carolyn’s election to this board is a tremendous honor and a testament to her leadership in the field of CME,” said Tracy Ken Tsuetaki, president of Quintiles Medical Communications. “We are extremely proud and privileged to have Carolyn represent Quintiles in this important position.”
NAAMECC, which serves as a forum for discussion and collaboration among MECCs, as well as the academic medical community and the pharmaceutical industry, plays a pivotal role in shaping the best practices of MECCs and elevating their position in the CME community. Also elected to the board were Michael Lemon, MBA; Brian P. Russell, RPh, MBA; and Lawrence Sherman.
“It is an honor to be selected by my peers to serve on the NAAMECC Board,” said Darrow. “I look forward to building on the work of my predecessors who have made NAAMECC a strong voice for MECCs and a true forum for collaboration in our industry.”
