According to company officials, Propel IT’s technology, Financial Analysis and Decision System (FADS), takes a new approach to controlling risk and capturing returns of IT projects. Their methodology focuses on risk and financial returns and allows companies to evaluate all important project tasks relative to their degree of risk and contribution to profitability. Rather than focusing separately on the risk or the likely payback of a project, FADS examines the interaction between the two. This provides an unprecedented level of understanding of how addressing specific risk factors can result in greater project profitability, officials said.
By including ranges of responses and confidence factors as input, and detailed probability graphs for all of the project’s critical financial components as output, FADS provides not just a set of return on investment (ROI) figures, but an indication of how likely that ROI is to be achieved. FADS also identifies the most critical factors affecting ROI. Instead of the typical one-dimensional ROI analysis, managers are provided with detailed financial models allowing for fully-informed decision making and guidelines for managing projects to maximize profitability.
