ISSAQUAH, Wash., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Overlake Hospital Medical Center is opening a 24-hour Urgent Care in Issaquah Saturday, February 12, 2005 as the next step in its ongoing plan to bring more advanced medical services to the Issaquah community.
The Urgent Care is conveniently located in the heart of Issaquah, at the Overlake Medical Center Issaquah -- 6520 226th Pl SE, Suite 150, Issaquah, WA 98027, at the junction of E. Lake Sammamish Parkway SE and Issaquah-Fall City Road.
“Overlake Hospital has been dedicated to the Eastside for more than 40 years. The Urgent Care is a continuation of our services currently available in Issaquah,” says Ken Graham, President and CEO of Overlake Hospital Medical Center in Bellevue. “In 2001 Overlake Hospital promised it would bring more medical services and a hospital to the Issaquah community. We are delivering on our promise.”
The Urgent Care will be open 24-hours, 7-days a week with onsite medical imaging and lab services. The Urgent Care specializes in treating illnesses and injuries that aren’t life threatening but still require immediate attention. It will be managed by Overlake Hospital emergency trained physicians. There will be eight exam rooms and one procedure room.
“The Urgent Care is an extension of the high quality care that patients have come to expect from Overlake Hospital’s Level 3 Trauma Emergency Center, less than 10 miles away,” states Steve Marshall, MD, Medical Director of Overlake Hospital Emergency Department. “The community will not only benefit from the higher level of care, but they will also save money. An average emergency department visit can cost more than $1,100, while an Urgent Care visit can cost approximately $200.”
The Urgent Care complements Overlake’s existing services in Issaquah: breast imaging center, a women’s center, family practice, surgery center and medical imaging. Overlake also has more than 90 physicians that are affiliated with the hospital and practice in the Issaquah area.
“If you are having a true emergency you still need to call 911,” states Dr. Marshall. “An ambulance will take you to the closest hospital with an Emergency Department, which is Overlake Hospital Medical Center.”
Overlake Hospital plans to build a 120-bed hospital in Issaquah by 2009, pending a review of the hospital’s Certificate of Need by the State Department of Health. The hospital will offer all services, including a level two neonatal nursery. The 120 beds will be implemented in two phases, with 86 beds in 2009 and the remaining 34 beds added in 2015.
