MediCapture Ships MediCap USB100

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- MediCapture Inc. today announced that it is shipping the MediCap(TM) USB100, the world’s first digital medical image capture device to use USB removable flash drives. The device works with any medical imaging device that connects to a standard video monitor. The MediCap USB100 can capture digital images from existing ultrasounds, endoscopes, intraoral cameras, surgical microscopes, and virtually any other analog video medical imaging device. It also has applications in dentistry and veterinary medicine.

“The MediCap USB100 is fulfilling a huge demand by doctors who have been eagerly awaiting a method for capturing digital images from their existing medical imaging devices,” said Michael Bishop, MediCapture’s President and CEO. “The USB100 is a snap to connect and operate -- anyone can hook up this small, portable box and start using it immediately, without the need for any training. When you see an image on your monitor that you’d like to save, you simply press a button and a digital still image is captured to memory. You can remove the USB flash drive containing the images and insert it in any Windows PC that supports USB. Then you can archive the images, enhance them, email them, and so on -- in other words, enjoy all the powerful benefits of digital imaging without the need to replace your existing medical imaging devices.”

“We’ve done our homework on this one,” remarked Ben Stluka, MediCapture’s Vice President of Sales. “Our primary goals were to make the USB100 affordable and easy to use -- we feel we’ve delivered on both counts. But we haven’t skimped on features. Users can review images on screen during the imaging session and they can add their own foot switch to allow hands-free capturing. We support both NTSC and PAL video standards. This product has a look and feel that’s instantly appealing. Our customers also like the MediCapture brand USB flash drives used with the USB100. They’re small, rugged, and stylish, and can easily be attached to a key chain so they’re always nearby, ready to capture more images. They can also be given to patients -- for example, as a keepsake containing prenatal images.”

The MediCap USB100 is currently shipping and is available from licensed dealers or directly from MediCapture.
