FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J., March 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Medco Health Solutions, Inc. announced today that it would aggressively expand the company’s Work@Home initiative - ultimately creating 150 new jobs within the next 12 to 18 months in North Carolina. Medco said it is partnering with the State of North Carolina to focus recruitment efforts with an emphasis on providing opportunities to participants in the State Job Link Career Center System to fill these customer service representative jobs. The Work@Home initiative provides a new choice in work setting for employees who aspire to a career in pharmacy benefit management.
Most of these positions will be structured as telecommuting work-at-home positions in the Charlotte area, including Mecklenberg and Cleveland counties. “I am very pleased Medco is locating these jobs within my district. In my discussions with Medco, I have been impressed with their commitment to quality and their efforts to expand the work-at-home initiative in the State,” said State Senator Walter H. Dalton.
Medco will provide the information systems required to perform the job responsibilities, including: computer, security and telephone equipment, reimbursement for broadband connectivity (cable modem or DSL line), and specialized programs unique to Medco. “Medco’s Work@Home model offers both career development and enhanced job satisfaction,” said Kenneth Klepper, Medco’s executive vice president and chief operating officer. “We see an opportunity to expand upon the Work@Home model in partnership with the state’s impressive Job Link program. By bringing the technology to the home setting, we will provide new options for Job Link participants who may be challenged in managing the costs and inconveniences involved in commuting to work.”
This initiative follows the award in November 2004 by the North Carolina State Health Plan to Medco of a four-year contract, beginning in April 2005, to administer a comprehensive pharmacy benefit program for nearly 700,000 state employees, retirees, dependents and other benefit-eligible residents.
Medco will apply all of its current policies, practices and safeguards, with any necessary adaptations, to ensure that patient privacy receives the same level of protection in the Work@Home environment as exists in its call centers. Medco is committed to increasing the quality of care, decreasing costs for our clients, and leading the industry in shaping the standards by which pharmacy benefit management is addressed.
