Med-Surge Technologies Release: Supports US Miss World 2004 And Works To Establish A Platform To Promote Healthy Skin

DALLAS, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Med-Surge Technologies, a national aesthetic medical device distributor in North America dedicated to providing physicians with superior, proven skincare technology and education, announced today its official corporate sponsorship of the US Miss World annual contest to be held this weekend, October 14th - 16th in Dallas, Texas.

Med-Surge is a founding strategic partner of US Miss World 2004. Med- Surge delivers a broad range of internationally well known and technologically advanced aesthetic skincare devices and products to the medical community in the US and understands that Dermatology is at the very heart of beauty and skincare. “We feel that being aligned with an organization of such significant international stature as Miss World is a great opportunity for Med-Surge to work with Dermatologists to get the message out about the importance of skin health, maintenance and preventative care,” said Paul Herchman CEO of Med-Surge Holdings, Inc.

In a previous campaign, Med-Surge requested that Dermatologists across the country encourage young women who are not only beautiful, but also have a sense of purpose in life, along with the courage and personal conviction to make a difference in the world, to compete in the US Miss World 2004 competition. We are pleased to announce that a US Miss World candidate sponsored by Dr. Roy Stern, a Board Certified Dermatologist and Clinical Assistant Professor at New York University with a Fifth Avenue practice in Manhattan, New York and group practice in Clifton, New Jersey, has been accepted by the judging panel as one of the 12 finalists. Dr. Stern along with Dr. Martin Kassir, a Board Certified Dermatologist and Internest in Dallas, Texas will serve as founding members of the Medical Advisory Board for US Miss World 2005 to help develop our strategy and message for the event in 2005 and 2006. “While beauty is associated with this event, it is our objective to utilize this platform to bring into focus the importance of maintaining and protecting one’s beauty by understanding what causes skin damage, the acceleration of the aging process and how one can go about slowing this process,” said Dr. Kassir.

Friday morning, October 15th, Drs. Kassir and Stern will meet with US Miss World contestants to educate the girls on proper skincare including the importance of proper cleansing, exfoliating, hydration and sun protection. They will also include the role of using the latest medical device technology for the treatment of age/sun spots, acne, wrinkles, micro-dermabrasion and even laser hair removal.

The 2004 US Miss World Contest is part of an integrated initiative supported by Dallas Mayor Laura Miller to bring the world’s most beautiful women from around the globe to Dallas/Fort Worth in 2005/2006 for the International Miss World Contest. The 12 final contestants nationwide have been flown to Dallas/Fort Worth for judging and the winner will go on to represent the United States in the Miss World contest in Sanya, China in December. “I have personally met with Julia Morley, owner of Miss World Limited and strongly support their ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ mission, which is aimed at helping women and children in the United States and around the world,” stated Mayor Laura Miller.

US Miss World is a pageant with a difference because of its “Beauty with a Purpose” and “Dare to Dream” essence which makes the pageant far more relevant in a global context. The Beauty with a Purpose mission of the Miss World organization has helped raise in excess of $250 million for charity. The pageant is viewed on TV by 2.2 billion people in over 160 countries. Its Dare to Dream philosophy significantly increases the breadth and depth of the field of candidates and places less emphasis on musical and dancing talents and more on ambition, desire and passion to make a difference in the world.

At this year’s event Troy McClain of NBC’s Apprentice will deliver his “Try and You’ll Live a World of Dreams” talk which he has presented to many major corporations and associations nationwide. Kimberly Harlan, US Miss World 2003, is also participating in this year’s event which will be captured into a spectacular 60 minute television special to be broadcast on a national satellite television network shortly after the event.

In closing, Paul Herchman said, “We can see that with the US Miss World team, Troy McClain, key Dermatologists and various sponsors, we will bring a very fresh approach to the US Miss World contest and build a valuable health and beauty platform for the future.”
