BOSTON, July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- One of the world’s most trusted resources for diabetes news and information is now even better. Joslin Diabetes Center, global leader in diabetes research, education and care, today launched its newly re-designed Web site, http://www.joslin.org. With over 2,000 pages, the site offers a fresh look to the most comprehensive and reliable diabetes information for people with diabetes and their families as well as for health professionals.
“For 107 years, education has been central to Joslin’s mission,” said Rachel J. Whitehouse, Vice President, Joslin Communications. “The Joslin Web site is already a trusted resource for people with diabetes, their families and the providers who care for them. But with diabetes reaching epidemic proportions across the globe, we wanted to do more. Now we’ve not only improved the site’s usability, but also provided more urgently needed in-depth content, such as overviews of advances in diabetes research and the latest in diabetes self-management and care.”
The Web site is newly organized, easier to read and navigate. Among the new features are:
-- A new Joslin Research Learning Center: http://www.joslin.org/733_1181.asp -- A new section for kids and teens, which offers families a trusted source of information about advances in diabetes management: http://www.joslin.org/KidsTeens_Index_2609.asp -- A redesigned Joslin Professional Education section, which includes Joslin’s trusted online courses for physicians and allied health professionals: http://www.joslin.org/CMEActivitiesListing_2250.asp -- A redesigned Joslin Store offering books, videos and other educational materials for consumers and health professionals: https://store.joslin.org/ -- Joslin’s Clinical Guidelines and useful information for referring physicians: http://www.joslin.org/759_903.asp -- An overview of Joslin’s innovative Strategic Initiatives programs and partnership opportunities for health institutions: http://www.joslin.org/Business_Index_2622.asp
“We wanted to improve service to a variety of audiences,” said Ed Charbonneau, Joslin’s Chief Information Officer. “We created a global navigation element on each page that has links for researchers, referring physicians, the media, appointments for Joslin Clinic patients, those seeking to volunteer for clinical research studies, and donors, making it easy for consumers to get what they want quickly and easily.”
The site still includes the many features for which the Joslin site is known and that are popular among people with diabetes, including the Joslin Online Library and the Joslin Beginner’s Guide; information about Joslin’s multicultural health clinics, including the Latino Diabetes Initiative, the Asian Clinic and services to the African American community; and Joslin’s discussion boards for adults with diabetes, parents of kids with diabetes, and teens with diabetes.
For health professionals, the site offers Joslin’s Clinical Guidelines as well as a variety of Web-based self-study Continuing Medical Education programs.
The new http://www.joslin.org Web site was built using content management software provided by Red Dot Solutions Corp. in New York City.
