HARRISBURG, Pa., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) today applauded Governor Ed Rendell’s creation of the Pennsylvania Center for Health Careers.
“The Center for Health Careers represents continuing progress in the effort to meet the growing need for the recruitment and education of health care professionals for hospitals and other medical facilities,” said Carolyn F. Scanlan, president and CEO of HAP. “Governor Rendell recognizes the role of health care in improving Pennsylvanians’ quality of life, creating jobs, and spurring economic development.

Gerald Miller, president and CEO of Crozer-Keystone Health System and immediate past chair of the HAP board of directors, will serve as a co-chair of the Center for Health Careers.
HAP is a statewide membership services organization that advocates for nearly 250 Pennsylvania acute and specialty care, primary care, subacute care, long-term care, home health, and hospice providers, as well as the patients and communities they serve.
