BASKING RIDGE, N.J., March 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hooper Holmes, Inc. announced today that it has strengthened its Board of Directors through the appointment of Dr. Leslie Hudson, 58. This addition expands Hooper Holmes' Board of Directors from seven to eight Directors. Dr. Hudson will serve on the compensation committee. This addition is consistent with the Company's objective to identify and add two new independent Directors to its Board. The Company plans to expand its Board to nine members in the near future.
Dr. Hudson has been the Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives at the University of Pennsylvania since July 2003 and is responsible for the University's technology transfer and commercialization, corporate research and development collaborations and regional economic development efforts. Dr. Hudson has been published in more than 80 papers, books and articles on immunology, cancer and cell biology and has broad experience in the global pharmaceutical industry.

After obtaining his Ph.D. in Immunology, Dr. Hudson became a professor of immunology and head of the Department of Immunology at St. George's Hospital Medical School in London. He joined Glaxo in 1988 and served in several senior level research positions, including head of the Company's genomics program from 1992 until 1994. After Glaxo, Dr. Hudson worked at Repligen Corporation of Cambridge, Massachusetts and then at Pharmacia, where he became president and general manager of ophthalmology in 2002.
Dr. Hudson received his bachelor's degree in zoology with first class honors from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, at the University of London in 1968. He received his doctorate in immunology from the Imperial College and Middlesex Hospital Medical School, University of London in 1975. Dr. Hudson is also an associate of the Royal College of Science.
