DALLAS, Feb. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- HIMSS Conference -- Further demonstrating its commitment to the advancement of healthcare informatics, Sentillion and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) announced today a new scholarship called “The Sentillion Healthcare Informatics Scholarship.” The scholarship was created by Sentillion as a tribute to achieving the milestone of 100,000 live users of its systems, and will be administered by the HIMSS Foundation and will be granted to students focused on the advancement of technology for improved caregiver workflow, information security and protection of patient information. Sentillion, the leading provider of healthcare identity and access management solutions, continues to develop innovative security and access management technologies that improve caregiver productivity, patient privacy and information security and looks to this scholarship as another method of seeding innovation in the healthcare community.
“The growing national attention on healthcare information technology requires that our industry create new avenues for students to explore and learn in the field of informatics. Sentillion created this scholarship in recognition of the 100,000 physicians and nurses who now use our systems and as another way for us as a company to spearhead innovation across the healthcare community,” said Robert Seliger, president and CEO at Sentillion. “Sentillion chose to have the HIMSS Foundation host its scholarship because of HIMSS’ formidable connection to the informatics community and its growing student education and development programs.”
The HIMSS Foundation, a separate non-for-profit corporation, is the philanthropic arm of HIMSS and is dedicated to inspiring charitable giving, research, education and to enhancing the management and application of healthcare information and technology. With the addition of the Sentillion Healthcare Informatics Scholarship, the Foundation offers seven scholarships to students at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level. “HIMSS welcomes the opportunity to offer this scholarship provided by Sentillion for a student who plans to enter the field of healthcare informatics,” said H. Stephen Lieber, HIMSS president and CEO. “This collaboration with Sentillion, one of our industry partners, provides an important education benefit that we can provide to the future leaders of healthcare.”
The Sentillion Healthcare Informatics Scholarship will be granted at HIMSS 2006 and 2007; applications will be available online as of August 5, 2005.
