Greenway Medical Technologies Unveils PrimeExchange(R)

CARROLLTON, Ga., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of organically integrated practice management and electronic medical record (EMR) software solutions for physicians’ practices, has announced the release of PrimeExchange. PrimeExchange is the interface engine for PrimeSuite, which facilitates electronic data interchange with external health information systems, such as lab information systems, hospital information systems, diagnostic equipment, electronic prescription clearinghouses, etc. PrimeSuite, Greenway’s Microsoft .NET-based ambulatory solution(TM) integrates a medical practice’s clinical, financial and administrative processes, streamlining practice workflow and enhancing practice profitability.

The first application released on the PrimeExchange platform is the electronic processing of lab requests and lab results. Based on the PrimeExchange interface engine, the lab request and results interface electronically pre-fills lab request forms with current patient demographic and insurance/payment information, and captures electronic lab results documentation directly into PrimeSuite for further routing and storage with the associated patient’s electronic chart. Utilizing this lab request/results interface will significantly reduce the time required by your staff to process lab orders and will also greatly improve the accuracy by which lab orders are processed.

“Upon electronic receipt of the lab results, the nurses do a first-pass review of the results as normal or abnormal and forward them to the doctors’ electronic desktops for their further review and action,” says Denise Murrah, Practice Administrator, West Georgia OB-GYN.

“Previously, with a paper-based lab management process, our practice required a dedicated full-time employee to exclusively process labs. Now that we have implemented the PrimeExchange lab interface, the same employee only spends 3 hours a day processing those labs -- which has allowed us to utilize our employees’ time more efficiently. As a result of the Greenway solution and PrimeExchange, our doctors spend more time seeing patients and less time on paperwork,” says Murrah.

In addition to communication with lab systems, PrimeExchange also electronically facilitates the exchange of clinical information between other medical information systems. It is specifically designed to adhere to current medical industry standards, such as Health Level Seven (HL7), American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards, and other standards adopted in the HIPAA regulations.

“Transferring clinical information between various medical information systems will greatly improve the level of patient care doctors who use PrimeSuite will be able to provide,” said Tee Green, president and COO of Greenway. “PrimeExchange enables medical facilities to electronically share information such as lab results, prescriptions, and diagnoses in real time. The electronic exchange of this information not only reduces time spent on

paperwork, but it also increases time available for a more thorough, comprehensive patient visit.”

Greenway’s PrimeSuite system allows a medical practice to automate every step of the patient visit, including scheduling appointments, documenting patient visits, billing, and claims processing. PrimeSuite, the only organically integrated, Microsoft .NET-based ambulatory software suite in the marketplace, consolidates front and back-office functions so that unnecessary data entry is avoided and the practice’s workflow is more efficient. As a result, physicians who use PrimeSuite have a more flexible schedule and can therefore provide enhanced levels of patient care instead of spending an ever- increasing amount of time doing paperwork.
