El Camino Hospital Catheteriazation Lab To Be Highlighted At 17th Annual Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics Conference

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- El Camino Hospital (ECH) today announced that its cardiac catheterization laboratory will be one of 28 international sites featured at next week’s Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) conference. James Joye, DO, director of the catheterization laboratories at ECH, will perform live patient cases on Monday, October 17, 2005 that will be broadcast live via video-transmission to conference attendees in Washington, D.C.

TCT, sponsored by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation, is the world’s largest and most scientifically stimulating symposium for physicians and other health care professionals who specialize in the field of interventional vascular therapy. Live case demonstrations are at the core of the TCT experience, and numerous groundbreaking and pioneering innovations relevant to clinical practice are introduced throughout the meeting.

ECH, a nationally recognized center of excellence for the treatment of peripheral vascular disease (PVD), is the only hospital on the West Coast that will perform live cases as part of this year’s conference. Dr. Joye and his colleagues are scheduled to perform approximately four cases encompassing various aspects of vascular intervention, including carotid artery stenting and advanced techniques for opening totally occluded arteries.

“Peripheral vascular disease is a pervasive health issue, and El Camino Hospital implements the most cutting-edge, sophisticated, minimally invasive procedures to deliver the best care possible to our patients,” said Dr. Joye. “We’re gratified to be recognized by TCT for our leadership in this treatment area and look forward to demonstrating some of the innovative procedures we utilize to the distinguished interventional cardiology audience assembled at the conference.”
