DURHAM, N.C., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Constella Group, LLC, a rapidly growing professional health services company based in the U.S., today announced that it has acquired Futures Group, Inc., an international leader in providing public health and social programs for developing countries.
As a global leader, Futures Group focuses on key areas such as HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria, maternal and child health, and family planning and reproductive health. Its staff of more than 400 provides a wide range of services and solutions in more than 55 countries, including public health policy development and implementation, social marketing and technical assistance. Futures Group’s reputation is well-known among international development organizations such as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and its counterparts in Europe.
“While Constella has built a strong reputation in domestic public health, Futures Group is a clear leader in international public health,” said Constella Chairman and CEO Donald A. Holzworth. “Together, we can now leverage a much broader, global capacity to enhance human health.”
Founded in 1971, Futures Group will maintain its name and operate as a business unit of Constella Group. Its former CEO, Robert Smith, will remain at the helm as president of Futures Group, reporting to Holzworth. Smith will lead Futures Group’s operations, serve on Constella’s leadership team and collaborate closely with the presidents of Constella’s other two business units, Health Sciences and Clinical Informatics.
In acquiring the private, Washington, D.C.-based company, Constella has gained three additional offices in the U.S. (in Washington, D.C.; Glastonbury, Connecticut; and Research Triangle Park, North Carolina), one in Bath, United Kingdom, and one in New Delhi, India, plus more than 30 project offices in other countries such as China, Egypt, Guatemala, South Africa and Ukraine.
“The tremendous advantage of this acquisition is that the synergies from our combined capabilities and the global reach of Futures Group will bring new, comprehensive services and solutions to our clients and partners,” Holzworth said. “This combination will enable us to greatly enhance the way we address critical public health issues facing the world today. Now we can offer our domestic clients deeper expertise in reproductive health, the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS and other infectious disease, and maternal and child health. Additionally, we will be able to bring more value to our newly acquired international clients and partners with Constella’s additional expertise in HIV/AIDS, public health preparedness, environmental health, and youth violence prevention.”
Among Futures Group’s primary clients are USAID, the U.K. Department for International Development (DFID), as well as United Nations agencies such as the World Health Organization and UNICEF. Constella’s primary clients are the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command. Constella also provides clinical trials and informatics services to the biopharmaceutical industry.
“Although Futures Group now operates as a business unit of Constella, our staff will continue to place a major emphasis on developing and maintaining strong client relations, creating collaborative working environments and ensuring a high level of service,” said Robert Smith.
