BLOOMFIELD, Conn., Nov. 2, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CIGNA HealthCare today announced it has formed two new units to pursue business opportunities and membership growth within distinct market segments. The newly formed Seniors Segment, led by Michael Ferris will focus on investigating new opportunities and implementing strategies for products and programs serving people ages 55 and older. A new Government and Taft-Hartley Segment, headed by Christopher DeRosa will focus on meeting the employee benefit needs of federal, state and local governments and members of public and private-sector collective bargaining units.

Michael Ferris, leading the Seniors Segment, has more than 25 years experience in the health care industry, most recently having served as senior vice president of product strategy and segment marketing for CIGNA HealthCare. In this role, he was responsible for developing and bringing new products to market, including the design of the company's new CIGNATURE product suite. Ferris has extensive experience in managed care, having served in a variety of leadership roles within CIGNA HealthCare's strategy, product management, network operations and underwriting organizations. Ferris earned a B.A. in psychology from Boston College and an M.B.A. from Babson College.
Christopher DeRosa, leading the Government and Taft-Hartley Segment, joined CIGNA HealthCare in 1992 and most recently served as vice president of sales effectiveness, responsible for sales operations activities. During his career with CIGNA HealthCare, DeRosa also served as vice president of sales and consulting for information management, where he was instrumental in enhancing the company's clinical and customer reporting capabilities. DeRosa has also served as vice president of national accounts, responsible for client relationships with the company's largest clients and has held regional account management positions. DeRosa earned a B.A. in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles and an M.B.A. from the University of California, Irvine.
