SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- ACMI Corporation, a global market leader in endoscopy, today announced that it has created a Gynecology and Surgical Specialties business unit that will concentrate on growth opportunities in women's health and other key surgical specialties. In addition, the company has realigned its sales & marketing organizations to better position the company for future growth.
The Gynecology and Surgical Specialties (GSS) business unit will focus specifically on areas of endoscopy and minimally invasive procedures where ACMI has strong clinical and technological expertise including gynecology, laparoscopy and anesthesia, as well as other areas that have solid growth potential. GSS will incorporate ACMI's full product line of endoscopic and minimally invasive products for gynecology, general surgery and anesthesia sub-specialties. This includes a broad range of flexible and rigid endoscopes, laryngoscopes, laparoscopic instruments, as well as fluid management and suction irrigation systems.
"There are a number of clinical specialties, including Women's Health, that are clearly growing and that need focused attention in terms of products and specific solutions," said Boris Levin, Vice President and General Manager of GSS. "ACMI is one of the largest producers of gynecologic endoscopic products that include a number of well respected products including the SlimLine(TM) product line for diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy. We have solid, long-term relationships with some of the top surgeons and practitioners in these areas and our goal is to maximize our potential. We want to build as strong a brand name in gynecology and key surgical specialties as we currently have in urology."
In addition, ACMI has combined sales and marketing into one organization that will drive decision-making closer to the customer, ensure product development is closely aligned with the marketplace, and allow ACMI to quickly respond to marketplace changes. The Sales and Marketing organization will report directly to Larry Hicks, who will assume the title of Vice President of Sales & Marketing. Mr. Hicks recently joined ACMI from Karl Storz Endoscopy where he successfully led Storz's US sales team, headed Storz's customer service and repair administration groups and served as general manager for the Sports Medicine division.
"This is about putting the customer first," said Larry Hicks, Vice President of Sales & Marketing. "ACMI has some of the best marketing and sales talent in the industry. Combining these two groups into one will create a single, extremely efficient team with one common goal - to meet or exceed the expectations of our customers."
"These organizational changes will increase our overall competitiveness as well as create a more unified, resourceful organization. It's ultimately about creating the right organization for growth," said Herald Chen, Chief Executive Officer for ACMI. "By creating GSS, we will have dedicated resources at the senior management as well as the product management and sales levels focused on developing and delivering innovative products & solutions that meet the specific needs of these specialties."
Mr. Chen added, "Aligning the sales and marketing teams into one organization will allow us to strengthen our overall product positioning, improve our overall customer responsiveness and increase our speed to market for our new products."
