The Company recently introduced a 400% price hike for the protease inhibitor drug used in HIV, causing outrage by patients, healthcare providers and sympathizers worldwide. Protesters have picketed Abbott’s annual meeting and are staging events at Abbott sites everywhere. Now a nonprofit run by activists, Essential Inventions Inc., is asking the government to invoke the 1980 Bayh-Dole act to grant licenses for cheaper generic copies of Norvir.
