Our pre-clinical GLP and non-GLP capabilities range from feasibility studies, to safety and efficacy assessments, to physician and sales force training. The scope and nature of these studies includes: cardiovascular, orthopedic, gastrointestinal, urogenital, dermatological, and wound healing-- with an emphasis on medical device development and biomaterial testing.
ISIS employs a full-time veterinary staff, versed in surgery, pathology, anesthesia and laboratory animal medicine and a highly trained and experienced technical team. We work directly along side our clients and support every step of your efforts to enter the marketplace. Our technical team offers guidance on variables such as vessel size, anatomical locations, and organ structure.
Providing the latest in experimental surgery capabilities since 1990, our experimental surgery facility offers four state-of-the-art surgical suites, animal preparation and housing, necropsy room, surgery scrub areas, instrument preparation area, and associated laboratory support capabilities. Specialized equipment includes multiple digital mobile fluoroscopy units (OEC), multiple ultrasound units with TEE, IVUS, ICE and Transthoracic capabilities. Additional instrumentation includes EKG with multiple pressure and monitoring capabilities, internal and external defibrillators, and pulse oximetry. Our capabilities are designed for acute and chronic studies that range from small animal models, such as cardiac ischemia models in rodents, to large animal models such as intracranial ventricle cannulation in swine modeal, with an emphasis on the larger models.
ISIS’s convenient location in the San Francisco Bay area place us in close proximity to a large concentration of medical device companies, leading academic institutions and medical and surgical conferences held in San Francisco. As such, it is easy for clients and physicians to visit and work with us on site.
To ensure regulatory compliance, ISIS’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) reviews all new protocols prior to acceptance. ISIS also follows Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) guidelines and maintains compliances and assurances with the USDA, NIH, FDA and DEA.
