EGMN -- Patients with suspicious, productive coughs should be worked up to rule out atypical mycobacterial infections before they are treated with tumor necrosis factor inhibitors, even if their chest x-rays and tuberculosis tests are negative, according to Dr. Kevin Winthrop.
