MONTREAL--(Marketwire - December 10, 2012) - Sunshine Biopharma Inc. (OTCQB: SBFM), a pharmaceutical company focused on the research, development and commercialization of drugs for the treatment of various forms of cancer, today announced that it has completed a new IND-Enabling study in which Adva-27a, the Company’s flagship oncology drug candidate, was found to be effective at killing Multidrug Resistant Uterine Cancer Cells in vitro. The study was carried out in MES-SA/Dx5, a Uterine Sarcoma cell line that has become multidrug resistant through the use of a commonly administered chemotherapy drug, Doxorubicin. Adva-27a was able to kill these cells with an IC50 of less than 8 micromolar, a very pharmacologically favorable drug concentration. Sunshine Biopharma had previously reported that Adva-27a is also capable of effectively killing Multidrug Resistant Breast Cancer Cells (MCF-7/MDR) and Small-Cell Lung Cancer Cells (H69AR) in vitro.
“This brings to three the total number of Multidrug Resistant Cancer types that Adva-27a can destroy. Other chemotherapy drugs are completely ineffective against these cancers,” said Dr. Steve N. Slilaty, CEO of Sunshine Biopharma. “This confirms the general effectiveness of Adva-27a against Multidrug Resistant Cancer,” he added.
