MINNEAPOLIS (EGMN) – Hypertonic 3% saline has a low adverse event rate when used without bronchodilators in infants hospitalized for bronchiolitis, according to research presented at a meeting on Pediatric Hospital Medicine. Three percent saline has emerged as a popular therapy for inpatient bronchiolitis, but is typically coadministered with bronchodilators because of a perceived risk of bronchospasm, Dr. Shawn Ralston, lead author, said in an interview.
