Severe Angina More Predictive of CAD in Women vs. Men

TCTMD -- Severe angina appears to be a greater predictor of severe coronary artery disease (CAD) in women than in men, according to a study published in the July 2010 issue of the Journal of Internal Medicine. Researchers led by Sonia S. Anand, MD, PhD, of McMaster University (Ontario, Canada), analyzed 23,771 consecutive patients referred for a first diagnostic angiography between 2000 and 2006. Angina symptoms were classified according to the Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS) class grading system 0-IV.
